Tadahiko Nagao was born in Tokyo. He is a widely published author, researcher and lecturer on the topic of human rights and international law. He has published more than forty books and over a hundred articles in English, Japanese and Korean on the subject, and has been a special advisor to the United Nations Human Rights Committee. He is also a member of the Council of International Advisors of the University of Tokyo, a member of the editorial board of The Asia Foundation's multi-lingual Asia-Africa Review, an Honorary Fellow of the Institute for Advanced Studies at the University of London and a member of its Dean's Council
